Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Marshmallow iOS app, the website at themarshmallow.app, and the waitlist. By using any of them you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Marshmallow.

Apple also applies its own Licensed Application End User License Agreement to apps downloaded from the App Store. Where these terms are silent, that agreement applies.

Your account

You need an account to use Marshmallow. You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires it. Keep your credentials to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app.

What Marshmallow does, and what it does not

Marshmallow blocks apps you choose, on your own device, using Apple's Screen Time APIs. It is a self-control aid, not a security product and not a parental control product.

Blocking depends on features of iOS that we do not control. It can be interrupted by an iOS update, by revoking Screen Time permission, by deleting the app, or by a bug. Marshmallow is not a guarantee that you will be unable to open an app, and it is not a substitute for medical, psychological, or addiction treatment. If your relationship with your phone is causing you serious harm, please talk to a professional.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Your content

Your sessions, schedules, profile, and stats are yours. You grant us only the permission needed to store and display them so the app works for you and for the friends you choose to connect with. We handle them as described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability and changes

We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. We may end an account that materially breaches these terms, usually after telling you why. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access, pricing, or launch timing.

Disclaimer and liability

Marshmallow is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything arising from a block failing to apply. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer you keep the rights your local law gives you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Marshmallow evolves. We will change the date at the top, and material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use Marshmallow after a change means you accept the updated terms.
